Fair way to Leave

It was my last day in Minnesota today. I'm leaving with my dad to move into my dorm in Chicago in the morning! I had a great last week though. It was topped by the State fair, which I attended with some of the best friends a girl could ever hope to have. Photo credit to Alicia. Thank you dear for helping make my day so wonderful.

Wearing: ultra un--attractive backpack for fair going, thrifted blouse tied,  meteorite necklace from M, Black knit dress from I don't even remember, and Converse shoes because of Doctor who.

I'm sitting on a giant caterpillar outside the butterfly house

I'm a juggler, I spent most of the day playing with my lunastix, they're great! You can also see the cool shoulder detail on this shirt.
My favorite part of the fair, however was these four AMAZING, lovely ladies. They are lebanese belly dancers from the Festival of Nations which was performing at the international bazar in the fair. They were gorgeous, talented, and extremely friendly. I love seeing proof that you don't have to be thin as a rail to be totally beautiful. These four were perfect examples.

A last hurrah at the fireworks. In the rain. Beautiful.

Cut offs and Ukuleles

Cutoffs and my new Ukulele, Beatrice, are my favorite items this week! for a guitar player, suddenly only having only 4 strings you have to play at any given point sounds amazingly easy, and beatrice was a cheap find too! I'm wearing a thrifted silk blouse, tucked into cut and rolled jeans with a strip of lace as a belt.
excuse my deep but hey! No makeup days are fun :) my skin can breathe before our show tonight

feathery earrings from the claire's haul a while back with my mom's vintage earrings...

and matching cameo necklace!

DIY lace shorts

Hello all! I promise next time I get around to doing a DIY I will take photos, but as I did this by hand sewing all the lace on the bus to Chicago, it simply didn't work to make a tutorial. BUT, I can show you the finished result! Here they are, inspired by pinterest, I cut up an old lady curtain from the thrift store and a pair of old navy jorts that were the wrong length, and now I have a new favorite pair!

Side panels are see through on both sides, cutoff is frayed. I accented with one lace trimmed front pocket, and a lace bow on the opposite back pocket. I'm really really pleased with how they look! and the lace panels gave me some room in the legs I didn't have before.

I hope you all are enjoying your summer, I haven't updated very much because I am in rehearsals for a show that opens this weekend. May I break ALL my limbs!

Outfit of The Day: tutu time

My status on Facebook today: Give me one good reason I shouldn't wear a tutu today.

No one gave me a good reason. So here we are, hanging out in part of my costume left over from the nutcracker ballet a few years ago, perfect to feel fun and crazy on a summer day.
Im wearing a shirt from forever 21, thrifted belt, diy necklace, diy cutoff yoga shorts

fun with sepia. ignore me and my bad photo editing skills

I love when the light hits this skirt!

here's my necklace

and this is my hair, all done up, I also braided my headband today, but you can't really see it.

Off to rehearsal now, have a lovely day!

An Orange Affair

Today was nice. I went to my aunt and uncle's house with the family, and my uncle happens to be pretty good at working with wood. And with his help, I now have the wood pieces to make my own diablo! I just need to bolt it together and get some strings.

Anyway, we always have a good time with two smith families together. And this is the outfit I wore.

high low!

I'm wearing an old navy dress that was on sale for $15, with a crop top from the clearance rack at kohls for $2.60. It makes it look completely different! My belt is something I've had forever, and the necklace was my moms.

These earrings I bought from a friend who was cleaning out her old jewelry, $2.

And this headband I got from a tap dance in our recital.

We finished up the night with some belated fourth of July fireworks in the backyard!

Also, My uncle has a huge black lab named Chester,

And this is an accurate representation of a good time with the Smiths....oh family gatherings....

Outfit of the Day. Like a fairy

What to do on a day when you've got absolutely nothing planned till 6 pm? Spend hours playing dress up to get ready. I love feeling pretty and costumey, and I also love being able to pull it off in real life. I thrifted this $4 skirt yesterday and decided I needed to play with it while ideas were still fresh in my mind, and this is what I came up with!
What I'm wearing: lace tank top from rag stock, Charlotte Russe corset thrifted for $5, garage sale kissing butterfly belt, thrifted skirt worn with slip, thrifted black ballet flats.

The flowers are from an old dance recital, the earrings are from a garage sale

I went with no eye liner today, I have a white shimmer in the inner corners of my eyes, pink eyeshadow on the lid, matte gold above the lid, and white along the lashes, topped of with kirkland signature mascara. Wearing e.l.f. bronzer and clinique lipstick in rhubarb poppy

the belt! this thing is from a garage sale I went to when I was nine, then I grew into it a couple of years ago :)

Thank you to my lovely sister for taking these photos, I'm really pleased with how they turned out.

Hot Day, Cool Outfit

So My aunt took me and my sisters to see Brave today which was absolutely incredible. I  cried at least three times, which for me is the mark of a good movie. Also, what wouldn't I give for Merida's HAIR?

Look at the Celtic goodness!

It's hot as balls in Minnesota, so I wore shorts. We had a nice day at the mall including a stop at Panera. We spent about an hour at Marbles and Air Traffic playing with juggling games. My new favorite toy is most definitely the Astrojax.

I'm wearing shorts AND t-shirt from Old Navy, and comfy summer sandals from Tradehome.

I'm quite proud of my hair today! braided my own headband successfully, and topped of my bun with a vintage silver bow.

I just got my third piercing done about a month ago so that one is being boring. :)
The bronze one is a die cast dress design, very vintage looking but I actually got them on Ebay for about $4
The middle one, tear drop is actually vintage, was my mom's in the 80s, and she got them from HER mom!

But overall my favorite piece of the day is this necklace-watch-pendant...thing. Graduation gift from mom, I thought it tied the earrings together nicely.

At any rate, this was a nice, cool outfit for a hot day, I wasn't uncomfortable and I felt great in the theater, the mall, and outside.
